  • Darjeeling, ca. September—October, 1928. Roerich arrived there after the completion of his Central Asian expedition, that started in August 1925 from Kashmir and finished in May 1928 in Darjeeling. His younger son Svetoslav, featured later in the episode, arrived in Darjeeling from Paris on August 20th. Дарджилинг, ок. сентябрь—октябрь 1928 г.
    Николай и Елена Рерих и их сын Юрий прибыли сюда в конце мая 1928 г. по завершении Центральноазиатской экспедиции Рериха, которая стартовала в сентябре 1925 г. из Ладакха. Nicholas Roerich, his wife Helena, and his son George were joined by his younger son Svetoslav, Sina Lichtmann (later Fosdick), and Frances Grant, two of the Directors of his New York-based institutions, and Vladimir Shibaev from Riga, who was soon to become Roerich’s secretary.   • In January of 1929, the Roerichs bought a house in Naggar, Kullu Valley, and settled there. These short clips were filmed in its vicinity, and feature, among others, Esther Lichtmann, the Vice President of the Master Institute (New York), who lived in Kullu with the Roerichs from March 1929 until September 1931.   • This episode starts with a local ‘gur’ performing a ritual upon the local deity Raj Mata, the great sister of the valley’s protector and mighty warrior Guga Chohan. The statue remained on the front lawn of the Roerichs’ house for the extent of their time in Kullu, and is still there. Later in the episode: mountain scenes from the vantage point of the Roerichs’ house and its neighbouring paths.   • This film contains scenes of Lahul, the valley adjacent to Kullu, and possibly the Rohtang Pass, which connects the two valleys. The Roerichs spent the summer months of 1931 and 1932 in Lahul. On that day Nicholas Roerich and his fellow Trustees and Directors of the Master Institute and the Roerich Museum came to the Horches’ country house in Moriah, 260 miles to the north of New York, in order to present the Horches’ son Flavius with Trusteeship papers.
